Dale Farm evictions

Dale Farm residents are being evicted 2 days after their last ditch appeal was rejected by the Court of Appeal.

Police moved into the farm from the rear of the camp at 07:00 and encountered heavy resistance with bricks, stones and debri being  thrown towards them, two residents had to be tazered and so far 3 arrests have been made.

One eye-witness was telling me at 8am this morning several police vans were speeding  towards the site whilst 3 police helicopters were circling the site. However, there are currently only 2 in operation at this moment.

Benjamin Ing, replenishment assistant at the local Homebase said: “People were jumping over the fence (at the fatal accident site) and running back into the farm”

“All the staff have had to place all their valuables into a safe and all the cars are parked in an area which is monitored regularly by CCTV in the Homebase.”

Private Security teams have been in operation in the carparks in the surrounding buisness estates to ensure the safety of local workers and property.

The Court of Appeal was the last attempt that the residents of the farm could make after last Wednesday when the High Court rejected 3 different appeals by the residents, leaving the travellers as Tony Ball, leader of Basildon Council describes: “On borrowed time.”

Before the evictions began this morning, Ball also said: “I made it very clear following Mr Justice Ouseley’s judgment that they should now leave peacefully and in a safe and orderly fashion.”
